Wes Parker has been serving as the main worship minister at North Raleigh Church of Christ since 2019 and has been a member of the church since 2006. Growing up in a middle Tennessee Church of Christ, Wes has always had a passion for the acapella worship tradition, and he works to find an effective balance of classic hymns and contemporary acapella Christian music in North Raleigh’s worship services. A career classical and jazz trombonist, Wes has a Doctorate in trombone performance from The University of Southern Mississippi and has served as the Director of Jazz Studies at NC State University since 2006. At NC State he directs jazz ensembles and teaches courses in jazz history and jazz improvisation. He plays regularly with the North Carolina Opera, the Carolina Ballet, and the North Carolina Jazz Repertory Orchestra. Wes claims that his highest qualification as a worship leader comes from being married to his wife Amy, who is a high school choir director in Wake county. Wes and Amy have three children and live in Zebulon, NC.
